Unissey aces iBeta Level 2 biometric PAD test on both mobile and laptop

Feb 10, 2022

Unissey becomes the first company in the industry to pass the iBeta “Presentation Attack Detection” (PAD) Level 2 evaluation, on phone AND computer for its passive liveness detection solution with outstanding performance results. Biometric Update deciphers the results in an article published on its website.

After having obtained very good results in the iBeta 1 evaluation, here comes a new milestone for the French start-up UNISSEY ! Passing the iBeta 2 evaluation on phone AND computer is a major step in the development and deployment of its facial biometric technology.

Indeed, UNISSEY is the only company in its field to have attempted and successfully evaluated its algorithms on a computer. Until now, all phone-based tests have always given very high performance results. However, computer-based testing is rarely chosen by companies, it is a real challenge and nobody wants to risk it. UNISSEY gives it a try and comes out with outstanding results, proving the viability, strength and power of its algorithms worldwide!

The testing of their passive liveness detection solution achieved the highest possible level of accuracy in iBeta testing. The devices chosen by UNISSEY for testing were a Samsung Galaxy S20 phone running Android 10 and an HP laptop running Windows 10 Home, which are considered to be as universal as possible and within reach of a wide audience. On both devices, no attacks were able to get through.
The Bona Fide Presentation Classification Error Rate (BPCER) – the false rejection rate on the first attempt – yielded a result of 0% on phone and 2% on laptop. In other words, UNISSEY’s algorithms are the Herculean version of algorithms. Strong and robust, showing unyielding resistance to attacks from very high quality 3D masks.
